Academia Sinica, the most preeminent academic institution in the Republic of China, was founded in 1928 to promote and undertake scholarly research in sciences and humanities. Under the leadership of current President Chi-Huey Wong, Academia Sinica is making further progress in improving research conditions and results. Many of the twenty-four research institutes and seven research centers are now headed by world-renowned scholars and staffed by highly trained, motivated, and creative young investigators. Academia Sinica has adopted various measures to promote the internal integration of research activities in the three research disciplines of mathematics and physical sciences, life sciences, and humanities and social sciences; to improve the planning, implementation, and evaluation of long-term projects in order to enhance the impact of the research activities. It is now a modern research institution with a worldwide reputation and a proud tradition.

The Gymnasium provides a variety of international-level sport facilities , such as basketball court, tennis court, badminton court, fitness equipment, aerobics classroom, PU jogging trail, and swimming pool. Single entry fee of $50NT includes use of fitness equipment, PU jogging trail, and swimming pool.

The Activity Center offers guest services with 80 comfortable guest rooms, and fancy restaurants. The high-class international conference hall on 2nd floor is for the use of meetings, exhibitions, seminars, and academic discussions.

The Infirmary Room is located on the 1st floor in the gym. PIs, staffs and research assistants can register online or go directly during the clinic hour 2~4pm, Monday to Friday for clinical and emergency service. It charges no registration fee but only medicine expense. Breast feeding room is on the side of infirmary room.

In order to promote recreation activities and improve body health and spirit of employees, Academia Sinica established different kinds of clubs focusing on sports, professional skills, relaxation, and so on. You can register online or contact with the representative for further information of each club.

The Graduate Student Dormitory is located on the 6th floor in the Activity Center. The qualified applicant should be student or research assistant of PI and is requested to stay in Academia Sinica for research purpose. The shuttle bus facilitates the commute from Academia Sinica to some universities - National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, National Central University, and National Yang-Ming University. Most of the runs are free of charge except a few of them during some specific time.
